Ground-based sensors are extremely accurate, but expensive to deploy at scale. Crowdsourced data is much cheaper to elicit at scale, but suffer from noisy observations.

At Groundtruth, we combine data elicited directly from farmers via microsurveys together with data from field sensors, and satellite imagery to provide more accurate data on growing conditions for the past, present, and future.

Our tools:

  • Make possible real-time measurement for agricultural stakeholders (farmers, governments, NGOs)
  • Lower measurement error, decreasing insurance risks to investors and farmers alike
  • Guide planting strategy & behavior
  • Facilitate ground truth measurement for disaster response planning
